Wer die AktivitAten von thePHP.cc in letzter Zeit verfolgt hat, dem wird nicht entgangen sein, dass wir verstArkt mit Judith Andresen...

Code Review Tool

Code Review Tool
We, at Qafoo, do Code Reviews quite often together with our customers. This often focusses on dicussing metrics, browsing the associated code and discussing solutions for the issues found. We started using a bunch of shell scripts for that, like everyone else, but at some point we came up with a webinterface to do this in a more comfortable way. Now we want to share this tool with you.

TYPO3 Neos and Create.js

TYPO3 Neos and Create.js
The relation between Create.js and the TYPO3 team goes back a long way. They were present in the IKS event in February 2011 in Vienna where I presented Create for the first time. My original idea had been to just build a new content editing interface for Midgard, but as they also were interested, we ended up removing the Midgard dependencies and building Create and VIE as a fully CMS-agnostic interface, a key part of decoupled content management.Back then TYPO3's next-generation content management system...

Matthew Weier O'Phinney: OpenShift, ZF2, and Composer

Matthew Weier O'Phinney: OpenShift, ZF2, and Composer
Matthew Weier O'Phinney was recently looking around for a cloud host that he could test out a few things on. He's shared some of that experience in his latest post to his site, specifically in dealing with the OpenShift service from RedHat.I considered Amazon, Orchestra.io, and a few others, but was concerned about the idea of a ~$50/month cost for something I'm uncertain about. When I asked in #zftalk.dev, someone suggested OpenShift as an idea, and coincidentally, the very next day Zend announced a...

Rob Allen: Sending an HTML with text alternative email with ZendMail

Rob Allen: Sending an HTML with text alternative email with ZendMail
Rob Allen has a quick tutorial posted to his site today showing you how to send an email with the ZendMail component of the Zend Framework 2 that contains HTML but provides a plain text backup in the same message.Sending a multi-part email with ZendMail is easy enough, but if you want to send an HTML email with a text alternative, you need to remember to set the content-type in the headers to multipart/alternative. As this is the second time I had to work this out, I'm noting it here for the next time I...

DZone.com: Deploying PHP Projects with Webistrano
On DZone.com there's a recent article posted by Kasia Gogolek that walks you through the deployment of a web application with the Webistrano tool, a web UI for working with Capistrano. This follows the first article where they talk about the Webistrano installation. Most of the applications I write, are PHP based, so all of my examples will be based on that assumption, but you can re-use the ideas mentioned for software written in any other programming language. The setup [in the example] discusses just...

Interesting Problems.

Interesting Problems.
Article originally from rooJSolutions blog If there is one reason I would put down to why I still enjoy coding after all these years, it is the pleasure finding a really challenging problem and being able to solve it quickly and efficiently. This week saw one of those problems, strange, obtuse, and to most non crazy people would seem to be an odd thing to get excited about. It all started with going through the requirements list on one of our projects. As I've mentioned before, we are building quite...
