Is This Thing On?
Note: This article was originally published at Planet PHP on 20 September 2010.
Twitter seems to have aggravated this, since I can often settle for a ~140 character soundbite instead of a full blog post. Kids have also contributed: my most frequent stream of posts was back in 2005, when I only had one child and he was sleeping a lot. These days, with two energetic boys, I haven't quite found the groove for writing or exercising.
I'm going to make an effort to break that pattern. There's a lot going on, and a lot on my mind, and I think it's going to take more than tweets to get it out.
One of the first things I'm planning to do is a sweep through my archives to mark old posts as such -- despite their dates, I think some of them are still coming up in search results from time to time, and the tone of those posts leads readers to believe that such-and-such a project is active, when now (5 years later in some cases), it's not any longer.
I'll also be breaking ranks a bit. Historically, I've blogged primarily about PHP and my adventures with it. As a PHP die-hard since 1997 or so, I've had a great many adventures indeed. It's time to branch out.
In addition to what I'm sure will be more posts about PHP, I'll also be blogging a bit more about web APIs, startup adventures (4.5 years since we launched Mashery!), and other languages and tools I've been experimenting with.
So, it may be worth following other feeds than just the one that I broadcast to Planet PHP. Or, it may be easier to follow me on Twitter @claylo.
That is, if you're interested in what's coming next on this blog. ;)
